Oil Analysis Laboratories – Energy Management Policy

Our Commitment to Sustainable Energy Performance

At Oil Analysis Laboratories, we are dedicated to operating responsibly and efficiently by reducing our environmental impact and continuously improving our energy performance. As a leading provider of advanced fluid analysis and diagnostic technologies, we recognise that how we manage energy directly supports our commitment to sustainability, innovation, and quality.

This Energy Management Policy forms part of our Integrated Management System (IMS).

Our Objectives

We aim to:

  • Reduce overall energy consumption per sample and carbon footprint year on year.
  • Identify and improve the performance of Significant Energy Users (SEUs) across our operations.
  • Transition towards renewable and lower-impact energy sources wherever practicable.
  • Integrate energy efficiency criteria into procurement and operational decisions.
  • Engage and educate our staff and contractors to use energy responsibly and innovatively.

Our Approach

We take a structured, data-driven approach to managing energy use through:

  • Monitoring and Measurement – Routine tracking of utilities and fuel use across our laboratories and offices using smart metering and sub-metering systems.
  • Energy Performance Indicators (EnPIs) – Defined targets to measure efficiency improvements for key systems, including laboratory instrumentation, extraction systems and IT infrastructure.
  • Continuous Improvement – Regular reviews of performance trends and opportunities identified through internal audits, maintenance activities, and management review.
  • Investment in Technology – Implementing automation, efficient lighting, and power-optimised equipment to minimise waste and emissions.
  • Offsetting carbon emissions where they have to be made – such as waste materials go into supplying energy infrastructures.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Managing Director: Provides leadership, approves objectives, and ensures adequate resources.
  • Management Team: Oversees energy performance, reviews SEUs, and drives improvement initiatives.
  • Team Leaders and Supervisors: Operate and maintain energy-critical systems efficiently.
  • All Employees: Play an active role by following energy-saving practices and reporting inefficiencies.

Engagement and Awareness

We encourage everyone within Oil Analysis Laboratories to contribute to energy reduction through:

  • Awareness campaigns and training sessions.
  • Sharing progress updates and success stories.
  • Recognising individual and team contributions to energy efficiency improvements.

Our Promise

Oil Analysis Laboratories is committed to minimising our environmental footprint, enhancing operational efficiency, and setting the standard for sustainability in the oil analysis industry.

Through the implementation of this policy, we continue to demonstrate that responsible energy management and technical excellence go hand in hand.
