Introduction

At Oil Analysis Laboratories, we are committed to adhering to the highest environmental standards, including compliance with the new recycling regulations in Wales. This policy outlines our approach to managing waste and recycling in our labs.

Policy Objectives

Waste Separation and Collection

  1. Materials Separation:
    • Paper and Card: All paper and card materials should be placed in designated recycling bins.
    • Glass: Glass materials should be placed in separate designated recycling bins.
    • Metal, Plastic, and Cartons: These materials can be collected together in the same container.
    • Small Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (sWEEE): Unsold sWEEE should be collected in designated bins.
    • Unsold Textiles: Collected in designated bins for recycling or donation​.
  2. Collection:
    • All recyclable materials should be collected separately from other waste to prevent contamination.
    • Designated recycling bins should be provided for each type of material.
    • Recycling bins should be emptied regularly by authorized waste collectors to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
  3. Disposal Bans:
    • Sending all food waste to sewers is prohibited.
    • Any waste separated for recycling should not go to landfill or incineration plants, with the exception of most textiles.
    • Wood waste should not be sent to landfill​​.
